The Future of N-gage, and N-gage on the Nokia N97

Over on Nokia Conversations, James has posted two important N-gage related video interviews with Jaakko Kaidesoja, VP of Nokia N-Gage games. One video is regarding N-Gage and its future, the other about N-Gage on the upcoming Nokia N97, which is Nokia's new S60 QWERTY+Touch interface phone.

Basically in the first video, Jaakko talks about how they're planning on tying in music on your handset into N-Gage games, location based features in games using your device's built in GPS and a couple other concepts %26quot;never seen in a mobile before%26quot;.

In the second video, he talks about how the N97 is the next big N-Gage device. He talks about the possibility of widescreen gaming, how the controls on the N97 would work, touchscreen games, accelerometer support and the possibilities that the N97 brings for N-Gage games.

Check out the videos after the break.

The Future of N-gage :

With the N97 changing things for Ngage through the introduction of new kinds of games and technologies, next year promises to be pretty exciting. But that isn't all for Ngage. Jaakko Kaidesoja, VP of games gave us a little insight into what we might see from Ngage in the future. Context is king in that location is going to play a much bigger part in gaming in the future. Music too will have tighter integration and Jaakko's team are already in the process of developing new music based initiatives.

N-gage on the Nokia N97 :

The N97 is the going to be the next big Ngage device, so we caught up with Jaako Kaidesoja, vice president of Ngage, to find out what we might expect when it launches. Widescreen games is the first thing, with current and future games getting the full widescreen treatment. Touch, and tilt based gaming is also on the cards. All sounds pretty exciting.

Egads its good to hear news about N-Gage. The future of N-Gage sounds good, but will it be enough to compete with the variety of new iPhone games being released.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

What do you think ?
