And apparently that's a big problem for the company.

Deutsche Telecom, T-Mobile's parent has apparently admitted that T-Mobile USA is losing customers because its 3G network isn't as developed as subscribers would want it to be. Therefore T-Mobile will definitely invest more in its 3G and 4G infrastructure. The mobile market offers a lot of potential compared to the European market and Deutsche Telecom is well aware of that fact. The U.S. market offers about 300 million potential customers and there are only a few carriers sharing them while Europe offers 350 million potential subscribers with anywhere between 50-70 carriers fighting fiercely for them. It's no wonder that T-Mobile wants to stop losing customers and improve its performance in the USA!

Let's not forget T-Mobile's Project Dark which is rumored to bring a new experience for T-Mobile's subscribers. Among the rumored changes there' the inclusion of a faster 21Mbps+ HSPA network which will surely bring some new subscribers on board. What carrier are you currently tied to?
